Open for public tours, the museum is located in the Fog Signal Building, includes displays of historical equipment and pictures, Coast Guard and ship wreck artifacts and charts, geographical maps and information on the area, and examples of local plants, birds, and whales.
Catch a Canoe & Kayak Rentals
Kayak, Canoe and Outrigger rentals on gorgeous 8 mile long Big River Estuary. Escape the fog and ride the tide through a redwood canyon. Watch for seals, otters and bird life. Stable outriggers are easy to paddle and hold from 1 to 10 people. Children & dogs are welcome!
Pt. Cabrillo Lighthouse
Join our knowledgeable docents for a leisurely stroll along the windswept bluffs of the 300 acre Point Cabrillo Preserve. You'll learn a little coastal ecology and the story of the Frolic, the 1850 shipwreck that changed Mendocino's history forever.
Pt. Arena Pier
At the right time of the year it is one of the best fishing piers in the state. And, throughout the year it is the best pier to fish if you want to catch rocky-area species like striped seaperch, lingcod, kelp greenling, rock greenling and cabezon and a fair pier to catch salmon.
